ENGEO’s Alan Wightman Presents on Prototype Timber Catch Fence and Wins

Congratulations to ENGEO Principal Engineer Alan Wightman, who won best oral presentation at last week’s NZGS 2021 Symposium in Dunedin, as voted by attending delegates.

Alan’s talk was on the design of low energy timber barriers for rockfall risk reduction. He presented an interesting topic in his normal witty, self-effacing style with 10 minutes of continuous fun and geotechnical learning. His presentation showed that sometimes, new ideas don’t need to involve fantastic 3D modelling packages; simple concepts with practical application can work very well!

Be sure to read the full technical paper in the symposium proceedings or contact us for a copy.
