Peter Basaly

Peter is an Associate Geotechnical Engineer with over 15 years of international experience across Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and Africa. Throughout his career, he has led geotechnical investigations and designs for a diverse range of complex projects, including high-rise buildings, airports, bridges, and large-scale infrastructure developments. His expertise covers deep and shallow foundation design, slope stability assessment, liquefaction analysis, and the design of earth retaining structures and deep excavations.

A specialist in advanced numerical modelling, Peter utilises a comprehensive suite of software to solve intricate ground engineering problems. He is highly proficient in Plaxis 2D and 3D, Wallap, Geo5, LPile, and CLiq, as well as Rocscience programs such as Slide and Settle3. He frequently applies these tools to challenging scenarios, such as soil-structure interaction, seismic assessments, and the remediation of failed retaining walls and landslides.

Peter is also an experienced project manager who values collaboration with clients and design teams to deliver practical, cost-efficient solutions.

“I am driven by the challenge of applying technical excellence to complex ground engineering problems. At ENGEO, I value the opportunity to work with a skilled team to deliver practical and efficient solutions, ranging from intricate remedial measures to major infrastructure projects.”

Away from the office, Peter can often be found on the soccer field, travelling to new destinations, or enjoying quality time with his family.
